Asphalt road planers are used to scratch and excavate a hard surface across EV charging hubs, car parks and access routes where existing asphalt layers need removing.
This can be a more effective method, preventing a full excavation being necessary. On a live site that means less disruption and a shorter programme.
It is a very good way to excavate accurate depths across a surface area and leave a more level finish. Planing creates a better base for the new surface layer, which matters on EV bays where levels and falls have to be right.
When grading off a surface, all the excavated asphalt is loaded straight onto the back of a lorry and removed from site. The material can then be recycled.
Asphalt planers come in many different sizes
The BM500 is a highly manoeuvrable small milling machine which weighs approximately 7,600kg and can grade off depths up to 210mm excellent for repair work and tie-in works around existing charging bays.
The W35DC is mostly used for milling small areas for reinstatement, milling around manhole covers and removal of road markings, at widths of 1.0m and graded up to 300mm depths. Useful on EV hubs where existing bay markings need lifting before resurfacing.
The W100CFI is a compact front loader in the 1.0m class with outstanding productivity and a sophisticated vision concept. This milling machine will produce precise results across larger charging hub areas.
Pavers can come up to 1200mm widths and these are what you would usually use on larger EV car parks and charging hubs to achieve the best finish possible.
